EFL Cup – Liverpool vs Arsenal and Chelsea vs Man United in the Fight for 1/4 Finals

Liverpool is having a phenomenal season thus far, as they are standing alone at the top of the Premier League standings, while their Champions League campaign is also looking fairly good. The Reds allowed themselves to mix things up in their previous game against Milton Keynes which they won 2–0, but the same is not going to work against Arsenal who are hungry for trophies.

The last time these two great rivals met in the EFL Cup was in 2009 when Arsenal won 2–1. However, the Gunners are not having too much success against Liverpool in their last several matchups. Namely, Liverpool is undefeated against Arsenal in their last nine Premier League games, and the last time Arsenal won was in April of 2015.

The other exciting match will be played on Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea is going to host Manchester United. Both teams have won this trophy in the last four years and have each won it five times in total.

Chelsea’s season is looking good so far, although they have plenty of work to do to catch up to Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League standings. On the other hand, Manchester United is having an awful season, but a win in Norwich might suggest that they can spark things up again.

In any case, the EFL cup might be the only chance these two teams have at winning a trophy this year, so it’s no doubt that they’re both going to play with their best players.
