India is off to a great start against South Africa after the first day of the Test series between these two nations. The home team won the toss and elected to bat.
Sharma and Agarwal looked a bit shaky at the start of the match, as Rabada and Philander gave them plenty of trouble with the fresh ball. However, things were soon put into place as the two found their rhythm and started racking up runs.
The first session ended with India’s unbeaten 91/0, as it seemed that the South African bowlers and spinners were having a tough time against India’s batting duo. The home team has ended the day on 202/0, as South Africa wasn’t able to break the Sharma/Agarwal partnership for the entire day.
Rohit Sharma recorded his fourth century in Tests, as he ended with 115, including five sixes. His partner Mayank Agarwal added a score of 84 runs, which is his personal best (previously 77) in this category.
India’s great performance was spoiled, however, as the rain started to fall hard in Vizag, causing the delay of play until further notice. It rained for a few hours until finally the organizers felt that it was best to call the day off. The action will continue tomorrow when hopefully the will clouds clear.
