Nadal Has Started Training And Preparing for the Exhibition Match with Djoković

The current world no. 2 suffered a wrist injury at the Laver’s Cup, right after winning the US Open in a 5-set marathon against Daniil Medvedev. He didn’t play any matches after that, withdrawing from the Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai.

On Monday, ATP released a video of him training on the courts of his academy. Based on the video, he looks as if he’s almost fully recovered and ready for the season’s finale.

The Spaniard should play an exhibition match with Novak Djoković on October 24 in Kazakhstan, followed by the Masters in Paris (October 28), the ATP Finals in London, and the Davis Cup.

Nadal will overtake no. 1 on the ATP list on November 4, regardless of the results achieved in those tournaments. To remind you, he doesn’t have any points to defend for the rest of the season, as he didn’t take part in any competitions after the 2018 US Open. Djoković played the finals in Bercy and in the ATP Finals in London last year, so will lose 1,600 points on November 4 when all the points from those tournaments are deleted.

Before the exhibition match in Kazakhstan, the 19-time Grand Slam champion will get married to his long-time girlfriend, Maria Francisca Perello. The couple is due to get married on October 19 in Pollensa.
