The 10th match week of the English Premier League starts on Friday evening as Southampton hosts Leicester. The Foxes had no issues against weaker teams this season so far and are currently third in the standings, but Southampton desperately needs three points to stay above the relegation zone.
Manchester City narrowed the gap between them and Liverpool, but they can’t allow any more upsets if they want to end on top. A home game against Aston Villa is a perfect opportunity for the Citizens to win another match and hope that Liverpool slips against Tottenham.
Everton finally snapped their losing streak last week against West Ham, and they will now be looking to continue the rise towards the middle of the table against Brighton. The two are separated by only one point and are barely above the relegation zone, so a win is imperative for both.
Watford is still the only winless team in the league. After a great last season, Watford is now looking desperate at the bottom of the table ahead of their game against Bournemouth, who lost only once in their previous five games.
West Ham and Sheffield United both have the same number of points in the middle of the table, and their encounter on Saturday can very well be the breaking points of their seasons.
Chelsea finally looks as they have found a good rhythm and are currently riding on a three-game win streak. They also recorded a Champions League win against Ajax on Wednesday, so the hopes are high on Stamford Bridge. However, an away game against Burnley will be all but an easy one.
Newcastle fell into the relegation zone after defeat against Chelsea last week, but they are looking to recuperate against Wolves on Sunday. Wolverhampton, who couldn’t win in the first five rounds, are undefeated in the last month, and their confidence is peaking after a 2-0 win against Manchester City a few weeks ago.
Crystal Palace is looking good this season, as no one expected to see them in 6th place one-third of the way into the season. However, they will be quite an underdog against Arsenal on Sunday, especially with all the injury issues they have.
Manchester United is having one of their worst season starts in the Premier League and are in desperate need of a win. A game against second-to-last Norwich is maybe just what the team from Old Trafford needs to get their season back on track.
The best we saved for last. Liverpool takes on Tottenham on Sunday afternoon in the most anticipated match of the round. After tying against Manchester United last week, the Reds need a win to keep their six-point lead above Manchester City. Tottenham is not doing great, but their convincing win against Red Star in the Champions League could spark things up a bit.
